The Developing Story
Welcome to The Developing Story Newsletter
Hello everyone!
My name is Adam Martignetti, and this e-mail is to announce the creation of The Developing Story Newsletter, a monthly newsletter to grow and connect the rich local community of creatives; Writers, Actors, Directors, Producers, Performers, Art Department, Music, Sound, Cinematographers, Photographers, Event Spaces, an appreciator and supporter of the Arts, and everything in between!
The focus will be primarily based in Film and Photography, and because of the nature of those things there is a lot of overlap with other artistic disciplines, it will not be limited to purely those mediums!
THE GOAL
The goal of the newsletter is to help to bring together the community of the many wonderful and creative people we have living. working. amd connected to Peterborough and the surrounding area. I’ve noticed that there are so many people who are amazing at what they do, creating wonderful things in isolation or very small groups, and I can’t help but think that with a connected community, there’s an opportunity for people to come together to create and share even more wonderful things.
INFORMATION
I will be sharing information that I am made aware of about projects, grants, calls for collaborators, live events, and informational articles and videos that could be helpful to expand people’s knowledge about various aspects of the creative process, from both the technical and academic side of things.
For example, something I’m happy to share is the upcoming ReFrame Documentary Film Festival, which will be celebrating its 22nd year in January of 2026 with their festival running from January 30th to February 8th.

This is a video that I found useful as a refresher for working with C-stands, and while the information is very basic, it’s presented in a helpful way. I will always caution that anyone who makes a video on YouTube claiming to be an authority on something should be taken with an entire mine’s worth of salt, but there will always be at least one useful bit of information in those videos. This video is very straightforward and informative with little fluff or pomp and circumstance, so I feel good about recommending people watch it. Even if you know everything about C-Stands, you could still learn something new!

For those of you who have been sitting on an idea for a project and are looking for a nudge to flesh it out and see where it can go, the folks at Script Pipeline are holding a Pitch Contest! You can submit your synopsis and logline and if chosen, receive $2,500 towards developing your script, among other perks. There is a $40 (US) entry fee, so be aware of that before you start to fill out your submission!
The deadline is December 15th.

EVENTS
I recently held an event that was a fun gathering where people were able to meet new people, catch up with others, and talk about their experiences in all the different aspects of their creative life. The energy and enthusiasm that I felt in that room inspired me to create this newsletter. The sense of connection was wonderful, and I would like to maintain that, even through something as simple as a newsletter.
I plan on holding semi-regular events where people can feel encouraged to meet fellow creative folks, expand their network and connect with others in a relaxed environment. These events are optional, and your signing up or receiving this newsletter does not obligate you to attend them!
WHO AM I?
A little bit about myself, for those who don’t know me, or aren’t familiar with some of my work:
I’m an Actor, Composer, Director, Writer, Cinematographer, Editor, and probably a few other things who has been performing on stage and on screen for over 30 years, and have experience in front of and behind the camera for almost as long. I currently work as a Senior Video Editor at Collider.com and am the Producer and Editor of Collider’s tentpole interview series Ladies Night.
I have been involved in many wonderful local projects over the years, from the Web Series that I created with local filmmaker Mike Moring titled “Mike And Adam Are Jobless”, a local restaurant review show named “The Dashing Diner”, being a Producer, Editor and Performer in Andrew Root’s live Podcast “Crime City!”, to being in Michael Hayes’ wonderful production “Life-Cycle Challenge”, being involved in Paradigm Pictures’ epic proof-of-concept “Grist” as a Producer, Writer, Actor, Editor, Behind-The-Scenes Photographer and various other roles in the crew, acting in Jenish Odigksi and Chris Brockhurst’s “The Client”, being an Associate Producer and working on the crew of the exciting project “Enkidu” adapting John Hedderwick’s stage show of the same name, producing and filming the feature film “Ring Rats” with local Writer and Director Derek Weatherdon, taking part in Bick/Antzis’ new Fibe1 television show “Janet & Steve”, as well as creating my own strange little projects over the years, this list of local projects I’ve been involved with pales in comparison to the sheer amount of creative output this area produces on a regular basis, and I’m proud to be a part of it.
